Azerbaijan has confirmed expanded visa free travel rules for 2026, allowing citizens of dozens of countries to enter without a visa for short stays. The policy applies to visitors arriving for tourism, family visits and business travel and covers stays of up to 90 days depending on nationality. Officials say the move is aimed at boosting tourism and strengthening regional links.
For travelers facing long visa queues and rising costs this change offers a clear solution. Travel without visa means fewer documents faster planning and easier entry at the border. Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a more open destination at a time when many countries are tightening entry rules.
Who Gets Visa Free Entry and How Long They Can Stay
Citizens of several countries including Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Tajikistan can enter Azerbaijan visa free for up to 90 days. The same no visa access also applies to visitors from Turkey, Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates. Turkish nationals can enter using a national ID card instead of a passport.
Shorter visa free entry periods apply to other travelers. Passport holders from China, Lebanon, Malaysia, Qatar, Hong Kong and Macao are allowed to stay for up to 30 days with no visa required. Iranian citizens can enter Azerbaijan for 15 days without a visa.
The government believes the visa free policy will increase airline traffic hotel business and cross border business activity. Tourism operators are already reporting higher interest for 2026.
For the general public this means simpler travel and more options without dealing with embassies. Azerbaijan’s visa free entry policy is set to make the country one of the easiest destinations to access in the region this year.
