Five previous overall winners are in the field, including Austria’s Stefan Kraft, Norway’s Halvor Egner Granerud, Poland’s Kamil Stoch, Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi and defending champion Daniel Tschofenig. Slovenia’s Domen Prevc arrives as the current World Cup leader and will draw huge attention in Oberstdorf.
Germany competes with nine athletes after head coach Stefan Horngacher used the national group rule for Oberstdorf and Garmisch Partenkirchen. Andreas Wellinger and Karl Geiger return after a training break, while Philipp Raimund and Felix Hoffmann headline the hopefuls.
Younger jumpers like Luca Roth, Ben Bayer and Constantin Schmid also get a rare chance on the big stage.
