Mitsubishi Motors has officially announced the European launch of its new Eclipse Cross battery electric vehicle. The SUV is hitting showrooms before the end of 2025. The compact SUV, produced at Renault’s ElectriCity Douai Plant in France, marks Mitsubishi’s renewed push into the 100% electric vehicle segment after more than 15 years.
A Milestone in Mitsubishi’s Electrification Strategy
The Eclipse Cross BEV, built on the CMF-EV platform, follows the company’s earlier electrified models, including the Outlander plug-in hybrid and the Grandis hybrid. Designed exclusively as an electric vehicle.
The model combines Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield front design with advanced safety features and a Google integrated infotainment system, offering up to 600 kilometers of driving range on a single full charge.
Takao Kato, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors, described the launch as a crucial step for the brand’s sales market in Europe. “Mitsubishi Motors has made it a mission to provide environment friendly vehicles and contribute to a decarbonized society. Expanding our electric lineup ensures we meet the diverse needs of our European customers,” he said.
Technology and Design for Modern Drivers
The Eclipse Cross merges style, performance and functionality. This compact SUV profile caters to urban drivers while remaining capable for weekend trips. Advanced driver assist systems combined with a powerful electric drivetrain aim to deliver both safety and comfort.
Mitsubishi emphasizes that early buyers of the plug-in hybrid variant can still benefit from the well established eight year warranty before the fully electric version becomes available.
Market Impact and Pricing
European pricing for the new model starts around €39,990, positioning it competitively within the growing electric SUV segment.
The new Eclipse Cross represents Mitsubishi’s return to the electric vehicle market in Europe, signaling the brand’s renewed focus on meeting rising demand for zero emission mobility.
For European drivers and industry observers, this launch could redefine expectations for compact electric SUVs.
