Romania has approved a Romania Work Permit quota of 90,000 for 2026, opening legal jobs for non EU workers. The decision was announced by the Ministry of Labor in Bucharest this week to tackle worker shortages and keep key industries running.
Even the number of work permits is decreased as compare to the 100,000 workers last year, but it makes the Romania work visa process faster for many applicants.
Romania Work Permit Quota and Other Key Decisions
Workers who get a Romania Work Permit will not need to attend a visa interview when applying for a Romania work visa. This cuts delays and helps people arrive sooner.
The quota includes workers from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and other third world countries who are expected to fill jobs in construction, factories, logistics and services.
The government also approved higher meal vouchers, rising from 40 lei to 50 lei, to help workers with daily food costs. In addition, 320 million lei will go to social assistance and child protection offices so public services remain stable as the workforce grows. A separate move extends the collective labor contract in the insurance and reinsurance sector to protect employee rights.
For employers, this means easier hiring in 2026. For workers from the third world nations, it offers a real chance to enter the EU through legal work routes.
